The Utrecht Chair, designed in 1936 by the Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld, inspired the design of The Worker. The detailing of the wooden frame of The Worker, the aluminium bridge connecting the frame to the armĀrest (by which the armrests seem to be floating), and the textiles, are evidence of the handicraft skills of the induĀstrial experts at Vitra.
