Felt Stool

The Felt Stool is based on a porcelain stool Hella Jongerius made for a special project of Droog Design and the German porcelain factory Rosenthal in 1997. During the ‘Trial and Error’ working process she found out that porcelain wasn’t the right material for her stool. For another sample project she reused a few of JongeriusLab’s old ideas for making new products. One of them is the textile version of the porcelain stool. She chose different layers of felt wrapped around a heart of metal because the shape of the stool is like a silhouette; the different colors give this side of the stool a strong line.
