The ‘Delft in Detail’ exhibition was initiated by Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, and curated and designed by JongeriusLab. Besides the very large and old collection of the museum, Jongerius added contemporary design, art, and fashion objects made in the Delft Blue tradition. For this occasion Jongerius designed the Delfts Blue B-set.
Based on the earlier `B -set´ service, it includes decorative motives from traditional delfts blue pieces, which are hand painted, embroidered or applied by transfers. Jongerius either carefully followed the old pattern or replaced them with computer pixels.
One of the most striking designs, the jug with the copper handle, was inspired by an old jug from the collection of the Gemeentemuseum. The original silver lid is attached to the neck with a hinge. Following the example of using tape with the Longneck-and Groove bottles, the Jongerius jug version elegantly binds plastic tie-rips with a copper handle.
