Commissioned by Frozen Fountain Amsterdam, we designed a series of lamps that work on gas instead of electricity.
The lamp is not practical or ‘handy’ but somehow twisted in an esthetic sense. The lamps are powered by regular camping gas tanks, which are refillable and can be easily obtained in many shops. The glass shades are hand blown and refer to archetypical lampshades.
The butane gas tank is typically associated with camping, but is likewise indispensable for current problems. This tank is combined with a glass top, which represents the world of design. In this product, the world of mass production mixes with that of design. Together these two revalue each other’s quality.
